Our History

Where it first started

Loving Our Planet and It's People

He always had a love for nature. Ever since he was a child, he enjoyed the vastness of the forests and the tranquility of the rivers. Mother Nature always gave him a special kind of peace, a momentary hiatus from the chaos of the world. Meet David Younghoon Kim. The man with a vision. The man with a mission. As he grew older, he became intrigued by nature’s sublimity. Nature in itself was sheer raw power, a juggernaut that had its way when it wanted to with nothing to stop it. Natural. But as powerful and overwhelming as it seemed, David recognized its intense fragility. Behind the mask of wild hurricanes, seemingly endless seas, blistering winters, and trees hundreds of feet tall is the scared and hurt face of God’s creation. The victim’s perpetrator? Us. With the power to actually influence nature, man has slowly but surely changed the landscape of the world with advancements of industrialization and an alarming, exponential increase in population. Our planet is sagging and failing under this burden that only grows by the day. David felt that burden. Fifty years later, he still feels it. Now, as a world leader in energy distribution, equity, and sustainability, David channels the responsibility he feels in taking care of nature into the work he does. He fights for the equality of energy across the world and takes part in investing and investigating in new ways to produce and provide cleaner energy. Daesung Farms is only one portion of the multi-faceted plans he has to combat pressing world issues (such as energy poverty). He believes in stewarding the opportunities he has been given and sticking to his philosophy of serving society for the greater well being of all. Yet no matter how small or large Daesung Farms is, if anything, the work we do on our farms and trees in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand give a tiny glimpse of the roots of all that Daesung Inc. does today. Because at the end of the day, David is still that young boy, curious and compassionate about nature, our planet—and all the people it houses.

Vision

“At Daesung Farms, we stick to our foundational philosophy of pro bono– working for the welfare of the people and society. In all of our farm operations and their locations, we look to serve the local community through the quality of products we grow and the pro bono intention with which we grow them.”
